Small mammal Fauna in the Swiss National Park – developments over the last 100 years

When the Swiss National Park was founded, taking stock of fauna and flora a major goal. Various efforts were made to investigate insectivores rodents, but little published about findings. In this article I will analyse existing data in terms how small mammal has developed over last 100 years. The reveal that species are rare today then common ones quite numerous too. protection status meant former pasturing animals, mainly sheep, replaced by wild animals like red deer, so environment mammals distinctly dry area changed little.
